Adding Mods

While Lumo Optimized is designed to work great out of the box, you may want to add your own mods or remove ones you don’t need.

  • Mod is for Fabric (not Forge/NeoForge)
  • Mod supports Minecraft 1.21.x
  • Check for known incompatibilities
  • Download from trusted sources (Modrinth, CurseForge)
  1. Right-click your instance → Edit
  2. Go to Mods on the left sidebar
  3. Click Download mods
  4. Search for the mod you want
  5. Select the correct version
  6. Click Select mod for download
  7. Click Review and confirm
  8. Close and launch the game
  1. Download the mod .jar file
  2. Right-click instance → EditMods
  3. Click Add file
  4. Select the downloaded .jar
  5. Or drag and drop into the mods list
  1. Right-click your instance → Edit
  2. Go to Mods
  3. Find the mod you want to remove
  4. Right-click → Delete
  5. Confirm deletion

If you’re unsure about removing a mod:

  1. Right-click the mod → Disable
  2. Test if the game works without it
  3. Permanently delete later if desired

Many mods require libraries. Common ones:

  • Fabric API - Already included
  • Cloth Config - Already included
  • Architectury - May need for some mods

Your launcher usually downloads dependencies automatically.

  1. Right-click instance → EditMods
  2. Click Check for updates
  3. Review available updates
  4. Select mods to update
  5. Click Update

When a new Lumo Optimized version releases:

  1. Download the new .mrpack
  2. Create a new instance
  3. Copy your saves folder from old instance
  4. Re-add any personal mods
  1. Remove the new mod
  2. Check compatibility requirements
  3. Look for missing dependencies
  4. Check for mod conflicts
  1. Check if other mods depend on it
  2. Clear the config folder for that mod
  3. If world won’t load, restore from backup
  1. Ensure it’s enabled (not grayed out)
  2. Check if it needs configuration
  3. Verify correct Minecraft version
  4. Look for required libraries
  1. Add mods one at a time - Easier to troubleshoot
  2. Test after each addition - Launch game and verify
  3. Keep backups - Before any changes
  4. Note your additions - For future reference
  5. Check mod pages - For known issues and conflicts
